photography lesson

In lesson today we had a photography induction with a teacher and gave and taught us how to use the cameras and an insight to photography and how everything in the room works such as the studio flash kit.

Lights:
The soft boxes are the 2 square-like lights which  to create a natural effect for the photographs. The light boxes help to soften and diffuse light, the teacher said to us to set the soft boxes to 3 and 1.5 which creates a 2:1 lighting ratio and should not be higher than 4 but if it is higher than 4 then the soft box has to be moved further away from the model since it creates a lot of light/flash.
once finished with the session, you need to manually turn off the lights instead of turning it off at the mains as this causes the bulb to become damaged. .

Camera:
- Depending on the camera, you should change the settings from Auto to M this is a setting which will enable the camera to autofocus itself rather than you.
support the camera - don't hold the camera with one hand - oor it will be unfocused and unclear.
-  take photograph for the cover page t in a portrait style so you can see everything clearly and the page will be A4.
Manual Focus: You can move the lens however you like.
Auto Focus: Zooming in and out.
Fine Focus: It's locked - meaning if it bleeps then it's focused and will create a shot..

The cameras we will use are DSLRs and  in particular is the Nikon D7000. It can take pictures in 16 million mega pixels and has 2 memory card slot. The two modes which we need to know on the camera are "A" and "S"; "A" stands for aperture and is used to focus on a given subject in a picture with depth of field; "S" stands for stutter and is used to capture action shots or general shots with movement. The lens works between 18mm and 105mm offering plenty of different distance compositions. There are also modes for the lens which are A for automatic focus and M for manual focus.
